About this course
Heriot-Watt University offers MSc Petroleum Engineering as a 1-year postgraduate Masters Degree (Taught) programme in Process engineering. Based in Edinburgh, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £29,960 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 85. Intakes run across 2 windows (Semester 2 (January), 2027 and Semester 1 (September), 2026).

Entry requirements
A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree, or its non-UK equivalent in an engineering subject or a physical or earth science discipline, including evidence of a good understanding of mathematics. Degrees in chemistry, maths, physics, geology or computing may also be considered with demonstrable maths ability. In addition, work or project experience in a related company role will be taken into consideration, please include your CV as part of your application.
