About this course
University of Sussex offers Drama as a 4-year doctoral Ph.D. programme in Performing Arts and Music. Based in Brighton, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £23,500 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 7 overall. Intakes run across 4 windows (Spring (January), 2027 and Spring 1 (April), 2026…).

Entry requirements
Degree requirements: You’re normally expected to have a Merit (an average of 60percentage overall) in a master’s degree. Subject-specific requirements: Your Masters-level qualification should be in a drama-related subject or a subject relevant to your chosen area of research. You should also show evidence of substantial research and/or evidence of professional performance-related experience. Your undergraduate degree-level qualification should be in drama, performance, or theatre studies. You may also be considered for the degree if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
