About this course
University of Strathclyde offers MSc Photonics as a 1-year postgraduate Masters Degree (Taught) programme in Optical Science. Based in Glasgow, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £30,300 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 6 overall or TOEFL iBT 73. Intakes run across 2 windows (Semester 1 (September), 2026 and Semester 1 (September), 2027).

Entry requirements
Applicants from an engineering or life science discipline need to have had sufficient exposure to quantum mechanics and solid state physics, eg by semi-conductor technology courses, or need to demonstrate that they can acquire the necessary background. Minimum second-class Honours degree, or international equivalent, in physics or a related subject, eg Engineering Physics, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Ophthalmology, Material Science, Astronomy.
