About this course
University of Strathclyde offers MLitt Creative Writing as a 1-year postgraduate Masters Degree (Taught) programme in Creative Arts. Based in Glasgow, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £23,550 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 80. Intakes run across 2 windows (Semester 1 (September), 2026 and Semester 1 (September), 2027).
Scholarships are available to international applicants. The programme includes an industry internship element.

Entry requirements
As part of your portfolio, you may also want to submit an outline of creative work you might develop in the course of the degree, possibly in the context of the dissertation (no more than two A4 pages).
the page equivalent of a short, 15-minute play or screenplay
up to 10 poems (no more than 40 lines in length)
2,000 words of prose (fiction or creative non-fiction)
The submission of a satisfactory entry portfolio of creative writing. This should consist of one of the following:
A second-class Honours degree, or International equivalent, in any subject, plus a portfolio of creative writing.
