About this course
University of Southampton offers Nursing : Adult (MSc) as a 2-year postgraduate Masters Degree (Taught) programme in Nursing and midwifery. Based in Southampton, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £24,400 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 7 overall or TOEFL iBT 100. The next intake is Autumn (September), 2026.

To make sure we meet the requirements of the NMC, we must assess your previous learning and healthcare experience. This happens as part of our Recognition of Prior Learning scheme which recognises elements of your previous academic and practice learning.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Our pre-registration postgraduate diplomas and masters degrees in nursing are accelerated courses, so they are shorter than usual.
We accept applicants from all degree programmes, and have successful alumni from degrees including Psychology, Biology, English, Fine Art, Ship Science, Business Studies, Accountancy, Law, and Archaeology.
You will need a 2.2 degree as well as GCSE English language, mathematics and science, grades 4 to 9 or A* to C.
- 325 hours of relevant theoretical learning from your first degree or employment
- 675 hours of practice worked in a healthcare environment under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional
