About this course
University of Reading offers PhD English Literature as a 3-year doctoral Ph.D. programme in Language and Literature. Based in Whiteknights, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £21,750 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 88. Intakes run across 2 windows (Semester 1 (September), 2026 and Semester 2 (February), 2027).

Entry requirements
To be accepted to study for a PhD, applicants will normally need to have an undergraduate degree of at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) or a master's degree, in a subject related to the proposed PhD topic.
