BDM Consult's advisors can guide you through entry requirements, scholarship eligibility, and visa support — from initial application to offer letter.

Entry requirements

You will need a 2:1 honours degree, and we welcome applications from graduates of BSc, BS, MSci, and MSc courses across the life sciences, as well as from related disciplines such as physics or chemistry. We prefer that you have prior laboratory experience, ideally in biochemistry or molecular and cell biology, although experience in these specific areas is not a strict requirement. When you apply for this course, we will first evaluate your academic record and prior laboratory experience. Informative and specific references from previous supervisors or academics who know you well will also help us assess your suitability. Based on this collective information, we will determine whether to invite you to find a supervisor at the University of Birmingham who is willing to host you for the MRes project, which is the central element of the course. Once a suitable project supervisor is confirmed, we can proceed with making you a formal offer.
