Ulster University offers PhD Transitional Justice Institute as a 3-year doctoral PhD/DPhil - Doctor of Philosophy programme in Justice studies. Based in Belfast, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £19,040 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 6 overall. Intakes run across 2 windows (Autumn (September), 2026 and Spring (January), 2027).

Entry requirements
Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, a First or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in a subject relevant to the proposed area of study. We may also consider applications from those who hold equivalent qualifications, for example, a Lower Second Class Honours Degree plus a Master’s Degree with Distinction. In exceptional circumstances, the University may consider a portfolio of evidence from applicants who have appropriate professional experience which is equivalent to the learning outcomes of an Honours degree in lieu of academic qualifications.
