Ulster University offers PhD Art and Design as a 3-year doctoral PhD/DPhil - Doctor of Philosophy programme in Creative Arts. Based in Belfast, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £19,040 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 6 overall. Intakes run across 2 windows (Autumn (September), 2026 and Spring (January), 2027).

Entry requirements
In exceptional circumstances, the University may consider a portfolio of evidence from applicants who have appropriate professional experience which is equivalent to the learning outcomes of an Honours degree in lieu of academic qualifications.
Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, a First or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in a subject relevant to the proposed area of study. We may also consider applications from those who hold equivalent qualifications, for example, a Lower Second Class Honours Degree plus a Master’s Degree with Distinction.
