About this course
Queen's University Belfast offers BA (Hons) French and Irish as a 4-year undergraduate Bachelor Degree with Honours programme in Language and Literature. Based in Belfast, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
Tuition is £22,400 per year. English-language entry requires IELTS 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 90. The next intake is Semester 1 (September), 2026.

Entry requirements
A Level: Post A-level French, ABB including A-level French and Irish. Note: for applicants who have not studied A-level French then AS-level French grade B would be acceptable in lieu of A-level French. Beginners Level French, ABB including A-level Irish + GCSE French grade B or evidence of linguistic ability in another language. Note: the Beginners' option is not available to those who have studied A-level or AS-level French. A maximum of one BTEC/OCR Single Award or AQA Extended Certificate will be accepted as part of an applicant's portfolio of qualifications with a Distinction* being equated to a grade A at A-level and a Distinction being equated to a grade B at A-level; All applicants must have GCSE English Language grade C/4 or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University.
