About this course
Lancaster University offers Applied Mathematics PhD as a 4-year doctoral Ph.D. programme in Mathematics. Based in Lancaster, the programme is delivered by the university's specialist faculty and welcomes international applicants from across Africa and beyond.
English-language entry requires IELTS 6.5 overall or TOEFL iBT 94. Intakes run across 2 windows (Autumn (October), 2026 and Lent (January), 2027).

Entry requirements
We are looking for PhD researchers who have demonstrated excellence in their studies and who are expecting to hold, or already hold, a first class honours degree or 2:1 with a master’s with substantial mathematical content (for example, in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science or engineering).
