About this course
Birmingham City University offers BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering as a 3-year undergraduate Bachelor Degree with Honours programme in Mechanical Engineering. IELTS 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in each band. TOEFL IBT - Overall 80, Reading - 20, Listening - 18, Speaking - 21, Writing - 19, PTE Academic - 64
Required subjects: Maths at Advanced level
112 UCAS tariff points from three Advanced Highers (CCD) or two Advanced Highers (CD) plus two Highers (CC)
Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher:
Required subjects: Mathematics at Higher Level.
Minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points, achieved in five Higher level subjects
Irish Leaving Certificate (Highers):
Accepted subjects: Engineering
Pass with 60 credits, 45 credits at level 3
Access to HE Diploma:
Accepted subjects: Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction
Distinction overall.
T Level:
National Diploma: You must obtain EITHER a minimum of Distinction in Mathematics for Technicians unit or Merit in Further Mathematics for Technicians or Calculus unit from a suitable level 3 qualification OR A Level Mathematics must be achieved at grade C or above
Accepted subjects for the Extended Diploma: Engineering
Extended Certificate accepted with two A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualifications
Diploma accepted with one A Level or equivalent level 3 qualifications

Pearson BTEC (Diploma / Extended Diploma/ Extended Certificate):
A maximum of four subjects will be considered
AS Level: Must be in a different subject to A Levels
Must include A Level Mathematics at grade C or above
A Level: 112 UCAS tariff points / BBC (or equivalent)
